Day 1 - Day 1 Vibrant Capital of Nova Scotia
Your journey begins in Halifax. There are red-brick heritage buildings, parks, the landmark Citadel Hill National Historic Site, top-quality museums, Alexander Keith’s original 1820 brewery, and a 4km seafront boardwalk. We definitely recommend spending an extra day or two here on a Pre-Programme before embarking on MS Fram.
Day 2 - Day 2 French, Fishing, and Forchu
Welcome to this historic town at the intersection of traditional Anglo-Scottish and Acadian French cultures. Situated in the world's largest lobster fishing grounds, Yarmouth boasts the largest fishing fleet in Atlantic Canada. View the grand sea captain homes built in 1850 or enjoy the picturesque views and hiking trails at Cape Forchu Lighthouse.
Day 3 - Day 3 Easternmost City in the USA
Stroll the downtown Historic District here and peruse its shops, restaurants, and cafés. The native Passamaquoddy Tribe have called Moose Island home for at least 10,000 years, an area which also attracts seals, eagles, and whales. We may see Old Sow in nearby Passamaquoddy Bay, believed to be the biggest whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere.
Day 4 - Day 4 Quintessentially Maine
Surrounded by Acadia National Park, simply stunning in the fall, and perched by the sea on Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor has a special ambiance that is classic Maine. You’ll find some of the region’s best restaurants here, with a focus on seafood. Whales, seals and puffins can also be spotted along the coast.
Day 5 - Day 5 For World-Class Art
This small coastal town situated in Penobscot Bay, like many towns in Maine, began around the lobster-fishing industry, but is now known for its boutiques, fine dining, and galleries. Art appreciators can spend time at Maine Contemporary Art and the world-famous Farnsworth Art Museum that contains works by Andrew Wyeth and other New England painters.
Day 6 - Day 6 The Cradle of Liberty
Home to Harvard University and legendary sports teams such as the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics, the diverse, melting-pot city of Boston retains its traditions as a treasure trove of authentic Americana. Walking the Freedom Trail is both outdoor museum and fascinating history lesson into the revolutionary roots of the oldest city in America.
Day 7 - Day 7 America’s First Resort
From cliff-top Bellevue Avenue all along Ocean Drive, Newport’s rocky and sandy shores are lined by opulent residences, modeled after Italian and French palaces and filled with antiques. Many of these extravagant properties are classed as National Historic Landmarks and open for tours. You can also explore nearby Fort Adams – America’s largest coastal fortification.
Day 8 - Day 8 The Big Apple
Passing the Statue of Liberty, we sail into Manhattan. Marvel at the metropolitan skyline, be wowed by Central Park and Times Square, or gaze over the city from atop the Empire State Building. The things to see and do here are endless. Explore the city on your own or on one of our optional excursions.
Day 9 - Day 9-10 Lectures, Photo Courses, and Relaxing
During these days at sea, the Expedition Team will continue their lecture programme, covering a range of topics related to the areas we sail to. The onboard photographer will also run small workshops teaching you the basics of expedition photography. Or, you can use the time just to relax and chat with your fellow explorers.
Day 10 - Day 11 The Romantic South
Charleston is considered one of America’s greatest historic treasures. With cobblestone streets, an elegant French Quarter, the magnificent Battery promenade, and Waterfront Park, the city is ideal to stroll around on foot or even by horse-drawn carriage. Explore the city’s historic sites at your leisure or join one of our optional excursions.
Day 11 - Day 12 Unwind with a View
Join the lectures presented by the Expedition Team or spend time on deck or in the panorama lounge with fellow travelers. Enjoy a refreshing workout in our well-equipped fitness room with a panoramic ocean view or let your muscles relax in one of the outdoor whirlpools.
Day 12 - Day 13 Latin Beats, Art-Deco Atmosphere
Our voyage ends in Miami, a cocktail of cultures reflected everywhere from South Beach to Little Havana. The architecture is part of the greatest collection of art deco buildings in the world. There are also tropical gardens, a lively arts scene, and exceptional cuisine. Tempted to spend a few extra days here with our optional Post-Programme before heading home?
