Itinerary

ITINERARY CHANGES Our itineraries are updated regularly throughout the year based on customer feedback and to reflect the current situation in each destination. The information included in this Essential Trip Information may therefore differ from when you first booked your trip. It is important that you review this information prior to travel so that you have the latest updates. Due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, public holidays, or other factors, further changes may be necessary to your itinerary once in-country. The order and timing of included activities in each location may also vary seasonally to ensure our travellers have the best experience. Your tour leader will keep you up to date with any such changes once on tour. OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES A selection of optional activities that have been popular with past travellers are listed in the day-to-day itinerary. This isn't an exhaustive list and should be used as a guide only for some of what might be available. Prices are approximate, are for entrance only, and don’t include transport to and from the sites or local guides unless indicated. All activities are subject to availability, and maybe on a join-in basis. It may not be possible to do all the activities listed in the time available at each destination, so some pre-planning for what you are most interested in is advised. When it's recommended that travellers pre-book these activities, look for a note in the Special Information section of the day-to-day itinerary. For most, they can either be organised independently on the day, or let your leader know you are interested in the Group Meeting and they can assist. Where activities are considered medium or high risk, we work with operators whose safety and credentials we have sighted and assessed. Although it is possible that you may find the same activity cheaper with another operator on the ground, we cannot vouch for the safety or quality of that operator. Medium and high-risk activities not listed above have not been assessed by us and as such our staff and leaders are unable to assist you with organising these activities. Activities that contravene our Responsible Travel policies are also not listed. Please remember that the decision to partake in any activity not listed is at your own discretion and risk.

Day 1 - Las Vegas / Zion National Park
Welcome to Utah! Get ready to embrace the wild west as you explore some of the country’s great wildernesses. You’ll meet your group in Vegas for a Welcome Meeting and then all board the private bus together to transfer to your Mountain Ranch in Zion National Park. This afternoon, after a picnic lunch, you’ll head out exploring on a hike. This half-day hiking route along a narrow ridge line to Angels Landing is considered the best in the southwest. On the way enjoy views of the massive canyon walls and red sandstone cliffs, set to a backdrop of clear blue sky. Tonight, if you wish, you can enjoy dinner back at the ranch and maybe even relax with a bottle of wine under the stars, or head out for a stroll around the property.
Day 2 - Bryce Canyon / Zion
This morning after breakfast you’ll be heading to Bryce Canyon National Park for the day. After a short drive in your private, air-conditioned vehicle you’ll reach an elevation of 8000 feet (just over 2400 metres) and will have officially entered Bryce National Park. From here, you’ll spend the morning hiking, with a stroll along the canyon rim to marvel at the unique sandstone spires (known as hoodoos) that rise dramatically from the natural amphitheater. A picnic lunch is included, so you’ll have time to rest your legs and relax with the other travelers in your group. Later, hike down into the hoodoos for an up close and personal experience with this fascinating landscape, with plenty of great nature photo opportunities, before heading back to the ranch at about 4pm for a free evening.
Day 3 - Monument Valley / Zion
Today after breakfast you’ll be hopping back into your private vehicle and heading to Monument Valley for the day. The southbound drive will take you through lots of the southwest’s spectacular scenery, past Lake Powell until you reach one of the most iconic locations on the planet. Monument Valley is the set for many famous western movies so may look quite familiar to some. But, most importantly, it’s the native land of the Navajo Indians. Once you arrive, you’ll transfer from your vehicle to a 4X4 jeep and enjoy an Navajo guided tour of Monument Valley, where you’ll have the chance to learn more about their rich culture and history in the area, before sitting down to a traditional homecooked, family-style Navajo lunch. After lunch we’ll make our way back towards the ranch, stopping at the famous Horseshoe Bend for an incredible photo opportunity on the way. Once back at the ranch, you’ll have time to rest and recuperate after a fun-filled day.
Day 4 - Peekaboo Slot Canyon / Las Vegas
This morning after breakfast we’ll be driving to visit a secret slot canyon called, Peekaboo, that evokes images of Petra’s siq in Jordan. Your local host will be able to show you around the coral-pink sands and towering walls of this lesser-known, local gem. After a picnic lunch, we’ll depart for Las Vegas where your escape will come to an end (approximately 5 pm).
