Itinerary

ITINERARY CHANGES Our itineraries are updated regularly throughout the year based on customer feedback and to reflect the current situation in each destination. The information included in this Essential Trip Information may therefore differ from when you first booked your trip. It's important that you review this information prior to travel so that you have the latest updates. Due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, public holidays, political unrest or other factors, further changes may be necessary to your itinerary once in-country. Your group leader or local representative will keep you up to date with any such changes once your trip is underway. OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES A selection of optional activities that have been popular with past travellers are listed in the day-to-day itinerary. This isn't an exhaustive list and should be used as a guide only for some of what might be available. Prices are approximate, are for entrance fees only, and don’t include transport to and from the sites or local guides unless indicated. All activities are subject to availability, and maybe on a join-in basis. It may not be possible to do all the activities listed in the time available at each destination, so some pre-planning for what you are most interested in is advised. When it's recommended that travellers pre-book these activities, look for a note in the Special Information section of the day-to-day itinerary. For most, they can either be organised independently on the day, or let your group leader or local representative know you are interested at the Welcome Meeting and they can assist. Where activities are considered medium or high risk, we work with operators whose safety and credentials we have sighted and assessed. Although it is possible that you may find the same activity cheaper with another operator on the ground, we cannot vouch for the safety or quality of that operator. Medium and high-risk activities not listed above have not been assessed by us and as such our staff and group leader or local representative are unable to assist you with organising these activities. Activities that contravene our Responsible Travel policies are also not listed. Please remember that the decision to partake in any activity not listed is at your own discretion and risk.

Day 1 - Dubrovnik
Dobro Dosli! Welcome to Croatia. Your adventure begins in Dubrovnik’s Old Town – a beautiful white stone town surrounded entirely by city walls (does anybody recognise the city from a little show called Game of Thrones?). Although it experienced devastation during the war in the early 1990s, the restored Old Town remains as charming as ever. With the sparkling water of the Adriatic in the background, Dubrovnik is picturesque and full of character, easily covered on foot. You’ll have a welcome meeting tonight at 5 pm. If you arrive early, why not head out to one of the Elafiti Islands? There's Lopud – a quiet island with lovely hikes, clean beaches and a ruined castle, Kolocep – a sleepy enclave that boasts walks for every fitness level, and Sipan – the most populated of the isles.
Day 2 - Lastovo Island
After breakfast this morning, join your leader for a walk to the Old Town to visit a local farmers market or may like to explore Dubrovnik on your own and visit some of the many beautiful shops and museums. This afternoon, board a ferry bound for the beautiful island of Lastovo – the only island in Croatia to be declared a nature reserve! Here, you’ll head to the first family farm on the island and meet your hosts, in between an olive garden and a hundred-year-old oak tree. Talk to your hosts, tour the gorgeous lands and enjoy a delicious farm-to-table dinner surrounded by lush scenery.
Day 3 - Lastovo Island
Today, get ready for an adventure as you board a local boat and sail around the island of Lastovo exploring various coves, stopping in picturesque bays to go swimming and feasting on a delicious picnic lunch prepared by your leader. That's not all, with your very own expert conservationist guide onboard your family will learn all about the history, culture and wildlife that make up this stunning piece of paradise. The kids will love hearing stories about the local inhabitants and seeing them come to life as you pass by fishing huts, sail over sunken ships and see a lighthouse that dates all the way back to 1863. Back on dry land the rest of the day is yours to spend as you choose.
Day 4 - Lastovo Island
This morning you are free to enjoy this beautiful Mediterranean paradise however you choose. Take time out to relax on the beach and go swimming in the sparkling waters, or if you're feeling energetic, there's plenty of options for a short hike or walk. You can also hire a bike and explore the many bike trails around the island. Spend the evening with stars and join a local astronomer and the other families for a spot of stargazing. After a short hike to the top of the village, your guide to the skies will teach you about some of the constellations you can see through the telescope, and why Lastovo is one of the best locations in Europe to view the night sky.
Day 5 - Korcula
After breakfast this morning, it’s time to leave one island paradise for another by taking a short ferry and bus ride to Korcula. In the afternoon, take a short hike to Zrnovo. Here, you’ll visit a restaurant where you can try your hand at making Makaruni – a traditional pasta dish from this small town – before sitting down and enjoying your meal together with the other families. Is there anything better than a plate of fresh pasta at sunset?
Day 6 - Korcula
There is so much to see and do on gorgeous Korcula Island, so today is yours to spend however you like. You can hire bikes and explore the island’s beautiful locations with the kids – maybe visit Vela Luka, a small town with gorgeous cove beaches. Keen to relax? Spend some family time at the beach in Lumbarda or visit a local family-owned winery to sample some Croatian white wines. Or, take the short ferry ride to Miljet National Park and enjoy some leisurely hiking in nature – the choice is yours!
Day 7 - Dubrovnik
After breakfast, take the ferry back to Dubrovnik’s medieval walls and check in to your hotel for your final night. You’ll have a few hours to relax or wander the city’s cobbled laneways before joining your leader for a sunset walk on the city walls for a truly magical finish to your Croatia family holiday. Is there any view quite like this one? Finish the evening with an optional group dinner and toast to new friends and a successful adventure!
Day 8 - Dubrovnik
There are no activities planned for the final day, and you are able to depart the accommodation at any time. As there’s a lot to see and do in Dubrovnik, you may want to consider staying a bit longer – just speak to your booking agent.
