Description
Explore the large wilderness areas of the southern seas, from South Georgia to the Falkland Islands to the Valdes Peninsula, in Argentinian Patagonia. This journey will take you into the heart of some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most preserved landscapes: isolated beaches, snow-topped mountains, arid steppes and windswept coastlines. You will observe exceptional wildlife – penguins; elephant seals, sea lions, fur seals, orcas, sei whales, guanacos; dusky and Commerson’s dolphins, etc – moving around their pristine environment. Between polar history – in South Georgia, follow the footsteps of Ernest Shackleton and his famous Endurance odyssey -, stunning nature and unique animal encounters, this exploration offers a rare immersion into one of the planet’s last great wilderness areas.
We are privileged guests in these extreme lands where we are at the mercy of weather and ice conditions. Landings on certain sites and the observation of certain wildlife cannot be guaranteed. They vary from day to day, making each PONANT cruise a unique experience. The Captain and the Expedition Leader will make every effort to ensure that your experience is as rich as possible, while complying with the safety rules and instructions imposed by the IAATO.
