Sailing from Málaga to Civitavecchia, this voyage traces the cultural and coastal highlights of southern Europe. Moorish fortresses in Málaga and Almería set the tone, followed by time under sail before reaching Palma de Mallorca and Mahón, where Gothic grandeur and island traditions define the Balearics. The route continues to Calvi, framed by rugged hills and a medieval citadel, then to Portoferraio, marked by Napoleonic history and Etruscan remains, before concluding near Rome.

Day 1 - Day 1 Malaga, Spain
 Malaga's fortress palace of the Alcazaba and the Castillo de Gibralfaro are splendid examples of Moorish architecture. But it is in Granada that you can see the most romantic and magnificent expression of the Arabesque style in the glorious Alhambra Palace.
Day 2 - Day 2 Almeria, Spain
 The city of Almeria is Andalucia's most eastern capital. It is located at the foot of a mountain range. Not to be missed is the magnificent Alcazaba, an Arab fortress built by the Caliph of Cordoba, Abd-erRahman with three huge walled enclosures (in the second of which are the remains of a mosque, converted to a chapel by the Catholic kings). The Alcazaba is the second largest Muslim fortress in Andalucia behind the Alhambra in Granada.
Day 3 - Day 3 At sea
 Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalising spa (Royal Clipper only) and a peaceful library.
Day 4 - Day 4 Palma de Mallorca, Mallorca - Balearic Islands, Spain
 Towering over the harbour, Palma's enormous Gothic cathedral is a powerful symbol of the religious fervour which gripped all of Spain shortly after the defeat of the Moors. Built by Jaume I, its vast open nave and soaring Gothic columns have been added to over the centuries. Behind the Cathedral, a maze of twisting streets leads to designer boutiques and open-air markets.
Day 5 - Day 5 Mahon - Menorca - Balearic Islands, Spain
 Gracious Georgian buildings that climb the steep hills backing the Moll Ponent. Mahon's heritage also includes the invention of mayonnaise and the first distillation of gin from juniper berries.
Day 6 - Day 6 At sea
 Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. Day 7 - Day 7 Calvi - Corsica, France
 Napoleon once said that he could recognise his native island blindfolded thanks to the wonderful scent of the maquis. When you arrive in Corsica by sea, that's the first thing you notice. The second is the wild, mountainous landscape... and when you see a medieval citadel overlooking a marina, you'll know you've arrived in Calvi!
Day 8 - Day 8 Portoferraio - Elba, Italy
 From his villa in Portoferraio, Napoleon, the exiled Emperor of France, looked out over the waiting ships in the harbour and dreamed of returning to glory. Enjoy a local vineyard tour, and near Portoferraio, discover the remains of an ancient Etruscan civilisation.
Day 9 - Day 9 Civitavecchia (Port for Rome), Italy
 Civitavecchia is an important seaport serving Rome, the Italian capital. As a key entry point for Mediterranean cruises and ferries crossing the Tyrrhenian Sea, Civitavecchia offers a gateway to a variety of destinations in Italy and beyond. The city is 70 km from Rome and 62 km to Fiumiccino airport.
