Go beyond Cairo’s headline sites on a 13-day journey through Egypt’s cities, deserts and ancient sites. Stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, then uncover the lesser-known pyramids of Saqqara and Dahshur. Travel north to Mediterranean Alexandria for the Roman catacombs, head deep into the Western Desert to explore the remote Siwa Oasis and the Oracle of Amun, and go off-roading in the Great Sand Sea. Meet local female artisans, share a home-cooked Egyptian meal and sail overnight on a traditional felucca from Aswan. Finish among Luxor’s temples, royal tombs and towering monuments.
- Explore remote Siwa – wander ancient Shali Town and Castle, visit the Temple of the Oracle of Amun, then unwind at Cleopatra’s Bath.
- Go off-roading in the Great Sand Sea of the Western Desert. Stop at Bir Wahed, a water spring located in the middle of the sand dunes, bathe in mineral water, then sip tea at sunset.
- Stand before the Great Pyramids of Giza – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – and see the mighty Sphinx, then visit Saqqara’s Step Pyramid and Dahshur’s Bent and Red pyramids – among Egypt’s oldest, largest and best preserved.
- Sail overnight on a traditional felucca from Aswan, after visiting Philae and its Temple of Isis. Then, explore Luxor’s Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Colossi of Memnon.
- Descend into Alexandria’s Kom el Shoqafa Catacombs – a maze of burial chambers. Then, visit the Roman Amphitheatre and trace the city’s Greco-Roman past.
