Jewels of the Indian Ocean (Le Jacques-Cartier)

Jewels of the Indian Ocean (Le Jacques-Cartier)

From AUD $10,740

Description

PONANT invites you on a new itinerary in the Indian Ocean. From Mauritius to Zanzibar through Reunion Island and Madagascar, take a 15-day cruise aboard Le Jacques-Cartier to enjoy beaches, diving and nautical activities, and to discover endemic fauna and flora as well as places of breathtaking natural beauty that few tourists visit.

From Port Louis on the island of Mauritius, you will first sail to Reunion Island and its wonderful area of volcanic pitons and cirques, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your ship will then set sail for Madagascar, the island continent. On the east coast first, Île Sainte-Marie, once a lair of pirates, has successfully retained its authentic and untouched character. On the west coast you will then discover Nosy Mitsio and its immaculate beaches, and Nosy Komba, also known as “lemur island”, home to large colonies of these small, agile primates.

Le Jacques-Cartier will then join Mayotte. This small French archipelago protected by a double barrier reef is the refuge of an incredibly rich fauna: dolphins, rays, giant turtles, and the region’s last dugongs can be observed here.

This fabulous trip will draw to an end in Zanzibar, a city with superb UNESCO-listed buildings, blending African, Arab, Indian and European influences over more than a millennium.
