Explore the diverse islands from Seychelles’ remote southern atolls to the ancient kingdoms of Mozambique Island, Ibo and Kilwa Kisiwani. Your voyage over 12 nights from Seychelles to Zanzibar is a remarkable expedition featuring visits to some of the world’s most fascinating islands.

Discover the giant Aldabra tortoises roaming the pure while sands of Alphonse Islands. The remote atolls of the southern Seychelles are renowned for pure white beaches and uninhabited wildlife reserves. Spot multitudes of bird species at Desroches, a bird-watcher’s paradise, and dive and snorkel on some of Seychelles most remote and breath-taking reefs. Delight in Madagascar’s extraordinary National Parks, with the opportunity to visit the remarkable tsingy at Ankarana and spot iconic lemurs and other wildlife at Mahajanga and Ankarafantsika National Park. A visit to Nosy Be reveals historic plantations, where we will soak in the aromas of ylang ylang, coffee, pepper and vanilla.

On the African coast, wander the historic streets of Mozambique Island, and visit the Southern Hemisphere’s oldest building, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Baluarte. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage ruins of the medieval sultanate of Kilwa Kisiwani, a 14th century city of grand proportions. Arrive at our destination of Zanzibar to discover the palm-fringed beaches, bazaars, dhow-crowded harbour and elaborately carved doors of Stone Town.

Day 1 - DAY 1: DEPART MAHE, SEYCHELLES
Board at Port Victoria, Mahe at 2:00pm for a 4:00pm departure.
Day 2 - DESROCHES & SAINT JOSEPH (SEYCHELLES)
This morning, arrive at the Amirante Group of islands, considered to be among the most untouched islands in the world. If conditions permit, we will explore Desroches and St Joseph Atoll. With the island’s conservation team and our naturalists, we will take nature walks to observe the giant tortoises, as well as the unique plants that grow here. Birdwatching is rewarding, and frigatebirds, Blue Herons, and Crested Terns abound. Snorkelling may be possible over the coral reef.
Day 3 - ALPHONSE ISLANDS (SEYCHELLES)
Today, if conditions allow, we will stop at the island of Alphonse, St. François and Bijoutier, which boast miles of spectacular beaches and lagoons brimming with marine life and brilliant coral. Theyare considered to be some of the most spectacular islands in Seychelles. We will swim and snorkel in the crystal blue water and enjoy walks exploring the islands.
Day 4 - FARQUHAR GROUP (SEYCHELLES)
An Important Bird Area, the Farquhar Group provides incredible bird-watching. Green sea turtles and Hawksbill Turtles nest around the edges of the lagoon, and snorkelling or nature walks are the order of the day, should conditions allow.
Day 5 - DIEGO SUAREZ - ANTISIRINANA (MADAGASCAR)
Antisiranana, also known as Diego Suarez, is the largest city in northern Madagascar and a gateway to the wonders of this region. Our day includes a choice of expeditions – travel to Montagne d’AmbreNational Park to experience the wildlife and nature, or for the fit – a journey to explore the famous tsingy of Ankarana.
Day 6 - NOSY BE - HELLE-VILLE (MADAGASCAR)
Nosy Be means Big Island is Malagasy. One of the primary destinations in Madagascar it is still sleepy enough to intrigue, and we have no shortage of options for our visit. Choose to visit the Ylang-ylang distillery and vanilla plantation, explore the markets of Hell-ville, snorkel at Nosy Tanikely marine reserve, or visit Nosy Komba – island of lemurs.
Day 7 - MAHAJANGA (MADAGASCAR)
Enjoy an afternoon exploring the park, with guided walks to spot birds, chameleons and lemurs like the adorably photogenic Coquerel’s Sifaka. The park is home to the famed Microcebus, or mouse lemur, the world’s smallest primate, as well 120 nesting bird species like the Madagascan fish eagle and banded kestrel. Later, we may visit Durrell Wildlife Park’s breeding program for the critically endangered ploughshare tortoise, the most threatened tortoise on the planet.
Day 8 - MOZAMBIQUE ISLAND
Explore tiny Mozambique Island, a World Heritage site with a fascinating blend of African, Arab and European cultures. Go back in time as we stroll among colonial buildings and small traditional houses. The fortified city of Mozambique and former Portuguese trading post is significant for its 16th century architectural features. Connected to mainland Africa by a 3.4kmlong bridge, the island has two distinct types of dwellings: the stone and lime town of Swahili, Arab and European influence and macuti town (city of roofed palm leaves) with African architecture. Enjoy guided walking tours to discover the island’s diverse culture, it’s charming people and fascinating history, Visit Stone Town and the oldest European building in the Southern Hemisphere, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora de Baluarte.
Day 9 - IBO ISLAND (MOZAMBIQUE)
Arrive at Ibo Island in the afternoon, and meet local guides who take us through streets that were almost forgotten to the outside world for nearly a century. Some colonial buildings have been restored while others are in ruins, displaying a hint of this port’s former splendour. Ibo Islandis one of the most ancient settlements in Mozambique, dating back to early 600AD.
Day 10 - KILWA KISIWANI (TANZANIA)
The UNESCO World Heritage Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani, once a medieval sultanate and occupied from the 9th to the 19th century, was described as one of the most beautiful cities of the world in its 14th century heyday. Wander around the magnificent ruins of Malindi Mosque, Fort Gereza, aformer prison built atop the ruins of a Portuguese fort, and the tombs of the Sultans. Husuni Kubwa, a Sultan’s palace of grand proportions right down to its octagonal swimming pool, was similar instructure to those found in Syria, Turkey and the Persian Gulf. On our final evening onboard CoralGeographer, reminisce about your voyage at the Captain’s Farewell Drinks.
Day 11 - DAY 13: ARRIVE ZANZIBAR
Arrive in Zanzibar at 9:00am to disembark at 10:00am.
Day 12 - Please Note:
This voyage includes 2 days at sea. The above itinerary is indicative. No two cruises with Coral Expeditions will be the same, with each expedition crafted by our experienced Masters and Expedition Leaders. Throughout the expedition we may make changes to the itinerary as necessary to maximise your expeditionary experience. Allowances may be made for seasonal variations, weather, tidal conditions and any other event that may affect the operation of the vessel. Coral Expeditions suggests that you do not arrive on the day of embarkation or depart on the day of disembarkation due to any changes that may occur in scheduling. This itinerary is an indication of the destinations we visit and activities on offer. This trip is suitable for passengers of all fitness levels, though reasonable mobility is required to enjoy all it has to offer. For shore excursions, our hydraulic lowering Xplorer tenders permit easy boarding without climbing any stairs. Where possible we split groups to suit easy and moderate walkers. Guests are welcome to opt-out of any excursion and relax onboard. As the itinerary covers remote regions, it is not suitable for passengers with serious medical conditions.
