Itinerary

ITINERARY CHANGES Our itineraries are updated regularly throughout the year based on customer feedback and to reflect the current situation in each destination. The information included in this Essential Trip Information may therefore differ from when you first booked your trip. It's important that you review this information prior to travel so that you have the latest updates. Due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, public holidays, political unrest or other factors, further changes may be necessary to your itinerary once in-country. Day 1 - Hobart to Maria Island (wukaluwikiwayna)
Welcome to Tasmania! Your adventure begins in Hobart, or Nipaluna in the language of the Muwinina and Palawa peoples, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Hobart is now located. Prepare to be picked up from your accommodation in Hobart between 7 and 8 am, where you’ll then be taken to your welcome meeting with your fellow travellers. You’ll then board your transport for a drive to the port at Triabunna and the ferry that will take you over to Maria Island. Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins that are often spotted from the ferry. Arrive on the island and walk up to your accommodation, the historic Bernacchi House, where you’ll sit down for lunch. This afternoon, you have the option to go on a guided walk to the Painted or Fossil Cliffs or simply relax by the fire. Reunite as a group for tonight’s three-course hosted dinner, accompanied by fine local wines and the southern night sky.
Day 2 - Maria Island (wukaluwikiwayna)
Wake up to a hearty breakfast at the Bernacchi House before deciding your plans for the day. Those looking to take it easy can choose between two circuits along a historic route, known for its wildlife spotting. If you’re looking to head further into the wilderness, join your guide for a walk up one of the two summits found on the island. Once at the top, look out over the waters to the Tasmanian mainland and down to the white sand beaches lining the coast. Return mid-afternoon and refresh with a glass of wine and canapes on the front veranda or by the fire. End the day with another gourmet meal made with fresh local Tasmanian produce.
Day 3 - Maria Island (wukaluwikiwayna) to Hobart
Today, sit down to another cooked breakfast before an excursion to explore the buildings of Darlington. Originally built as a convict settlement in the 1800s, the site today retains several of its original buildings and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend time exploring the area before you’re served a farewell lunch overlooking the town. Finish your meal and your time in Maria Island as you hop back aboard the ferry and return to the mainland. You’ll have the option to be dropped in the Hobart CBD or the airport, arriving approximately 5 pm. If you need help organising additional accommodation, just get in touch with your booking agent.
