Day 2 - Day 2: Sailing on the Atlantic Ocean
Delight in a day of cruising aboard the casually elegant M/V Victory I. Today finds us cruising on the Atlantic Ocean. Day 3 - Day 3: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Our first visit is to the picturesque Citadel, an eight-pointed structure constructed in 1856 to defend Halifax from invading forces. It is populated by the 87th Highlander regiment, which regularly performs reenactments inside the square. The Halifax Museum of the Atlantic offers an exceptional glimpse into Nova Scotia’s maritime heritage, with an emphasis on small craft and the massive Allied convoys of World War II that assembled in the inner harbor. On our way out of town, we drive past the Fairlawn Cemetery and hear the compelling story of how 100 recovered RMS Titanic victims were buried in this city. We will then continue along the craggy shoreline for a 45-minute drive to Peggy’s Cove, one of the loveliest maritime villages in Nova Scotia. Located on St. Margaret’s Bay, this coastal village retains the character and flavor of an active residential community, with a vibrant fishing fleet, quaint multicolored homes and the iconic Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse. Guests may choose to have lunch on their own in a local restaurant, and there will be ample time to stroll through the community, explore the rocks surrounding the lighthouse and shop for souvenirs in local stores.
Day 4 - Day 4: Scenic Sailing Through the Strait of Canso
As we sail toward Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, we’ll cruise the Strait of Canso. This strait divides the Nova Scotia peninsula from Cape Breton Island. It is a long, thin channel approximately 16-and-a-half miles long and averaging almost 2 miles wide (0.62 miles at its narrowest). The strait connects the Chedabucto Bay on the Atlantic Ocean to St. George’s Bay on the Northumberland Strait – a sub-basin of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The strait is crossed by the Canso Causeway. The causeway opened for vehicular and rail traffic in 1955 to allow ships to pass through, and can accommodate any vessel capable of transiting the St. Lawrence River. Get your camera ready to capture the landscapes and the moment when the bridge over the canal swings open to let the M/V Victory I pass through.
Day 5 - Day 5: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
Located on Prince Edward Island, Canada’s tiniest and most charming province, Charlottetown is famous for its red earth and white beaches. Our motorcoaches will initially follow the same historic trail through Charlottetown that was walked by delegates participating in the historic conference leading to the Confederation of Canada. We will then drive along the North Shore of the island to Cavendish Bay, Prince Edward Island National Park and the farmstead that inspired “Anne of Green Gables.” Guests can tour the house and other settings from the book, including the Haunted Woods, Lover’s Lane and Balsam Hollow. Enjoy strolling along the shores of the bay, or visit the charming city center before returning to the ship for an exceptional dinner overlooking the sea.
Day 6 - Day 6: Scenic Sailing on the St. Lawrence River
Delight in a day of cruising aboard the casually elegant M/V Victory I. Today we will cruise on the St. Lawrence River, formed from the world’s largest source of freshwater – the Great Lakes. Enjoy conversation with fellow passengers, or join an engaging discussion with our shipboard experts, who are well-versed in the history, peoples and natural wonders of this historical waterway. Partake in elegant dining in two distinctive venues, with free-flowing non-premium beer, wine and spirits to enhance your day.
Day 7 - Day 7: Whale Watching Near Tadoussac, Québec
Tadoussac, where the St. Lawrence River meets the outflow of the Saguenay River, is one of the most exciting whale-watching sites in the world. Between May and October, up to 13 species of cetaceans make their way upriver from the Atlantic Ocean to become temporary residents in the salty waters of the St. Lawrence River. The sea mammals include blue whales – the largest species on the planet – and the impressive humpbacks, which swim up into the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord near Tadoussac to feed. We will bring on a naturalist to help us peruse the Saguenay Fjord in search of whales. This region of the St. Lawrence River has also been the home of several indigenous tribes, and at one time, hunters from the far north traveled onto the St. Lawrence River to augment their whale catches. Now, the region is committed to sustaining a safe andrich environment for those extraordinary creatures, and the only catch one can make is through the lens of a camera.
Day 8 - Day 8: Québec City, Québec
Québec City is the only walled community in North America, and is deeply engaged in preserving its history and its unique place in Canada. Our motorcoaches will take you to the Plains of Abraham at the point where the battle between the invading English forces and the defenders took place as they stormed Upper Town and captured the city. Then we’ll travel onward to pretty Place-Royale in Lower Town, which in 1759 was bombarded from across the river as fireships were dispatched toward the port. We will then drive out of the city to see the historical and majestic Montmorency Falls. Guests are encouraged to stroll on their own out of the port, which is close to Lower Town, visit the Petit Champlain and take the funicular railway to the Château Frontenac Hotel to experience the magnificent Terrasse Dufferin.
Day 9 - Day 9: Montreal, Québec
We will depart the ship for a half-day city tour that includes top attractions and historical sites, such as Notre-Dame Basilica, with its wonderful stained-glass windows. Then, we’ll take a drive through the downtown business district and to the top of Mount Royal for a commanding view of the city and the St. Lawrence River. We will also visit Montreal Botanical Gardens, which is among the world’s largest. Guests are encouraged to explore Montreal on their own during leisure time in the afternoon.
Day 10 - Day 10: Scenic Sailing on the Gulf of St. Lawrence
Serving as a partial boundary between the United States and Canada, the St. Lawrence River is an important route for trade and travel. It is fed by the world’s largest source of freshwater – the Great Lakes – beginning at the outflow of Lake Ontario near Kingston, and flowing northeast to the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Atlantic Ocean. The river spans 744 miles, and widens significantly near Québec City to become the St. Lawrence estuary
Day 11 - Day 11: Disembark in Toronto, Ontario
Today we arrive in Toronto, signaling the end of our journey. End your experience with breakfast before disembarking the M/V Victory I
Day 12 - Please Note:
Itineraries are subject to change depending on weather and port availability. Itinerary changes may occur during your trip due to water levels, changes in policy or other uncontrollable factors.

Inclusions

    • Discover Notre-Dame Basilica that is a significant part of the Catholic heritage of Montreal. Visitors interested in the arts of the past will be amazed with the church’s impressive crypt, where they can study its origins. The present basilica, which was inaugurated in 1829, was built on a plan set back slightly from the placement of the original church, which stood on the plot of ground covered today by Notre-Dame Street. As a result, many archaeological treasures of major ethnographic value still exist in the area around the basilica and underneath its front square.
