Description
The schooner departs from Manaus, capital of the State of Amazonas, for a 4-day cruise visiting the Anavilhanas Archipelago.
The cruises depart from Manaus, capital of the State of Amazonas, a city in the jungle that prospered during the rubber boom last century. This is a four-day cruise visiting the Anavilhanas Archipelago, the largest river archipelago in the world, and its igarapés (permanent river channels) and igapós (non-permanent river channels). Due to its acid waters, endemic mosquitoes are practically inexistent. The cruise also includes daily explorations and activities in safe motorized boats into the jungle, as well as a rich Amazonian cuisine served in the panoramic restaurant.

A 34-metre, three-masted Brazilian sailing ship, M/V Desafio is designed for safe, small-group exploration of the Amazon. The wooden-hull vessel offers a traditional river-cruising experience supported by modern comforts: full air-conditioning, private facilities in every cabin, a panoramic restaurant and bar, and an expansive sundeck for viewing wildlife and sunsets deep in the rainforest. Navigation and safety systems meet Brazilian Merchant Marine standards, and annual dry-dock maintenance keeps the ship in reliable condition for remote travel.
With only 12 cabins across the upper and lower decks, Desafio keeps the experience intimate. Cabins include wardrobes, safes, air-conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms, while the crew and professional jungle guides handle every aspect of river navigation, landings, and daily excursions. Excursion boats, experienced naturalists, and knowledgeable hosts create an environment where guests can explore Amazon ecosystems comfortably and with confidence.
