Cape Town & The Cape Winelands
Multiple Departure Dates: 13 April and 28 September 2012
Day 1 (Friday)
After arriving in Cape Town Airport you will be met by the photographers holding a signboard in your name.
From the airport your photographers will drive you to your accommodation in Blouberg Strand, an area with the most iconic view of Table Mountain over the ocean. You will then have some time to relax and explore this area along the beach and scout some locations for some landscape photography at sunset as well as for the morning’s sunrise photography session. After some sunset photography on the beach, you will be able to review your images and discuss the results with your photographers over dinner in a Blouberg Strand restaurant.
Accommodation tonight is at Blouberg Strand in the luxurious Dolphin Beach Hotel, which overlooks Table Bay, Table Mountain and Robben Island.
Day 2 (Saturday)
At sunrise you can join the photographers in a landscape photography session along Blouberg Strand before breakfast.
Your photographers will then take you on a guided tour of the Cape Town townships Malay quarter, Langa, Khayelitsha, for some people photography opportunities and a chance to learn about the workings of South African townships.
In the afternoon your photographers will take you to the beautiful Camps Bay for you to scout some locations for an evening photography session, after which you
will return with your photographers to Blouberg Strand for a restaurant dinner and you will enjoy the night in the same accommodation.
Day 3 (Sunday)
This morning, after a hearty breakfast you will be taken by your photographers to Table Mountain where (weather permitting) you can either walk or take the cable car to the top of the iconic Table Mountain, with your photographers. *If weather does not permit access to the top of Table Mountain your photographers will instead take you to various vantage points to photograph Table Mountain, as well as other areas of interest, with view to returning another day. You will then be driven by your photographers to Simonstown and have a chance to get settled in to your accommodation. The evening photography session will be at the Slangkop Lighthouse on the western side of the Cape Peninsula.
You will be able to discuss photographs of the day with your photographers over dinner in a local restaurant.
Accommodation tonight is in Simonstown, in the Simonstown Quayside Hotel which overlooks False Bay and the stunning Simon’s Kloof mountains.
Day 4 (Monday)
An early rise this morning will see you enjoying an early photography session at Cape Point followed by breakfast for you to refuel. With some more time to yourself you can explore the area and in the evening you can join your photographers for a photography session with the Simonstown Penguins. Celebrate and discuss your great images over dinner in a restaurant.
Accommodation is the same as day 3.
Day 5 (Tuesday)
This morning you can join your photographers for a photography session at Muizenberg Beach before breakfast. Leaving the beaches behind for a while you will drive with your photographers to the beautiful town of Stellenbosch in the Wine-lands. You will have time to explore the historic town and later indulge in the features of the Auberge Rozendal Wine Farm, a working farm, situated between the Stellenbosch and Simonsberg mountains. A photography session in the evening followed by a discussion and dinner will round out the day.
Accommodation tonight is in the beautiful guesthouse of Auberge Rozendal Wine Farm, with vineyard, mountain and valley views.
Day 6 (Wednesday)
An early rise this morning for a dawn photography session in the vineyards followed by breakfast and some time for yourself in this beautiful area of the Cape.
Your photographers will take you to the historic town of Franschhoek and to visit surrounding wineries and your evening photography session will be amongst the
vineyards and mountains of Franschhoek.
Accommodation tonight is the same as day 5.
Day 7 (Thursday)
This morning your photographers will take you for some amazing photography at Paarl Mountain and the Afrikaans Launguage Monument.
After breakfast you will return to Cape Town and have a chance to settle into new accommodation in the city. You will have the chance to explore the exciting Cape Town Waterfront and scout locations for some evening photography before dinner in a Waterfront restaurant.
Accommodation tonight is in the Protea Hotel Sea Point or Waterfront.
Day 8 (Friday)
This morning after breakfast you will have the chance to walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela as you take the tour of the infamous Robben Island.
In the afternoon your photographers will take you through the Cape Town city, including the historic Castle of Good Hope and the crazy & colourful Greenmarket Square, where you can photograph the organised chaos of market trade and haggle for some souvenirs. After the energy of the city you will be able to relax again at dinner.
Accommodation tonight is the same as day 7.
Day 9 (Saturday)
This morning your photographers will take you to photograph the hustle and bustle of the working harbour and fish market (Snoekies) of Hout Bay. After lunch your people photography will again be sought as you get the chance to engage the locals as your photographers take you to a team training session of football (soccer) charity organisation Oasis Reach For Your Dreams. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, the local team’s football (soccer) training is a great way to get to know and photograph people beyond the superficial level.
Accommodation tonight is the same as day 8.
Day 10 (Sunday)
This final morning will begin with a sunrise photography session of Table Mountain before breakfast. You will have the chance to enjoy the Waterfront for yourself before your
photographers take you back into the inner city for some street photography and a final discussion on what to do with your amazing travel images next.
Finish off the day perfectly, with a sunset harbour yacht cruise in Table Bay and farewell dinner on the Waterfront.
Accommodation tonight is the same as day 9.
*Your photographers are happy to arrange transfers to the Cape Town airport the next day, if required.
